US driving season peaks June-August; EV penetration is a long-run bear

US gasoline demand peaks during summer driving season (Memorial Day to Labor Day). Weekly highway traffic data and vehicle miles traveled (VMT) are leading indicators. BEV penetration is reducing gasoline demand at the margin: BEVs are now ~8-10% of new US car sales, removing roughly 100,000 bpd of incremental gasoline demand per year.
